Unleashing the Infinite Possibilities of Data Computing, Empowering Enterprises to Achieve the "Trilogy of Digitalization" Continuous Advancement

Ray Von, Founder and CEO of OpenPie, shared the company's development strategy and product philosophy during his opening speech at the event. He stated that in the era of Cloud Computing 1.0, a group of IaaS giants emerged, and the wave of Cloud Computing 2.0 is now creating a group of cloud-native champions worldwide. In this wave, OpenPie adheres to the product philosophy of "ultimately realizing the big data vision" and has developed the cloud-native eMPP database, PieCloudDB, focusing on "data," "discovery," and "computing." As one of the few cloud-native analytical databases with a separation of storage and computation architecture globally, PieCloudDB breaks through the limitations of the PC-era computing platform and redefines the database kernel in the cloud, empowering enterprises to unleash the maximum value of data, build new advantages for high-quality development, and provide a reliable and controllable cloud database foundation in the field of new infrastructure.

Ray mentioned that PieCloudDB, created with the new eMPP distributed technology, allows data to grow infinitely in the cloud. Cloud data is both isolated and interconnected. From a security perspective, it provides isolation while also enabling data sharing. Computing resources can be elastically allocated in the cloud, starting on-demand when there are query computing tasks. This eliminates the need to purchase a large number of servers that remain idle, resulting in additional costs for uncertain usage. This approach allows the cloud to provide exponential storage and computing resources at a lower cost, enabling the discovery of new insights or improved accuracy in business models, thereby establishing a competitive advantage. Furthermore, Ray also announced that the "Cloud on Cloud" version of PieCloudDB will be released in the first half of next year.

In his concluding remarks, Ray Von stated that with the explosive growth of data volume and computing power, more and more enterprises will migrate their applications to the cloud. Cloud-native databases will become a crucial strategic focus in the era of data clouds, and cloud-native architecture will receive increasing attention. In the future, OpenPie will continue to deepen its research and development of cloud-native database products, aiming to establish cutting-edge standards for the next generation of cloud-native data platforms by leveraging breakthrough innovative theories, original cloud-native database flagship products, algorithms, and mathematical models. They will contribute to the comprehensive transition of the database industry into the era of the cloud. Let us seize the opportunities presented by this trend and collectively create infinite possibilities for cloud-native databases and cloud-based data computing!

New eMPP Cloud-Native Database Released: Building a Comprehensive Product Ecosystem

During the product release session, Paul Guo, CTO of OpenPie, and the core technical team showcased the core technological advantages of PieCloudDB and shared the features of the community edition and enterprise edition. Paul Guo pointed out that traditional distributed database systems mostly adopt the MPP (Massively Parallel Processing) architecture. MPP-based databases scale storage and computation through clusters of PC servers. As data volume continues to rise, enterprises have higher requirements for databases. However, traditional database solutions face various bottlenecks, such as the inability to access data across clusters, the inability to activate more computing power for real-time computation of cold data, and the inability to concurrently run multiple high-dimensional enhanced BI computations.

PieCloudDB is fully based on cloud computing architecture with elastic parallel computing, addressing the limitations of traditional PC-based MPP. In PieCloudDB, storage and computation are treated as two independent variables, each elastic and scalable within the cloud, allowing for instant scaling. The product enables users to perform data computation across multiple clusters simultaneously, facilitating true data sharing for existing and future applications. During the product release session, Paul Guo emphasized several key technological advantages of PieCloudDB:

• Storage-Compute Separation: PieCloudDB adopts a three-tier architecture of metadata-compute-data separation, enabling independent management of storage and compute resources in the cloud. Computing resources can be elastically allocated in the cloud, starting on-demand when there are query computing tasks, and cost is calculated based on usage time and scale.

• Elastic Computing: In the cloud, PieCloudDB utilizes the eMPP (elastic MPP) architecture to achieve concurrent execution of tasks across multiple clusters. Enterprises can flexibly scale up or down, efficiently adapting to changing workloads and effortlessly handling petabyte-scale data.

• Multi-Cloud Deployment: PieCloudDB can run on any IaaS platform based on customer requirements and can also be directly installed on bare metal using its built-in Kubernetes. With this "infrastructure-agnostic" cross-cloud deployment capability, enterprises can establish data pipelines across multiple clouds, eliminate dependence on specific IaaS providers, and gain negotiation power over cloud resources.

• Real-time Processing: PieCloudDB employs a novel storage caching architecture. At the compute layer, each computing node is equipped with multi-level cache structures for metadata and user data, minimizing network latency and data movement. This design improves computation efficiency, reduces system response time, and ensures real-time requirements for users.

• Data Security: PieCloudDB offers enterprise-grade transparent data encryption, employing real-time encryption, strong algorithms, and multi-level keys to protect data security. It also supports comprehensive security and permission management, including database and table-level authorization control, helping enterprises manage permissions at the table level.

In conclusion, Paul Guo stated that driven by the goal of data computation, OpenPie will continue to expand on the foundation of PieCloudDB. This includes assisting users in generating computational value through modeling, introducing new models, and making further innovative breakthroughs.
